Generation Z, Rev12 and Sharing the Gospel

Baby Boomers.
Generation X.
Generation Y.
Generation Z.   Just think about that...

So I was driving home over lunch today and listening to Christian talk radio.  I "happened" to tune in during the tail end of a interview titled this:  Reaching the next generation of believers.  James Emery White was being interviewed.  He is the author of a book titled: Meet Generation Z: Understanding and Reaching the New Post-Christian World

At the very end of the interview a very basic question sent in from a listener was asked.   The question and answer were so simple, but something following it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Question:
"Where did they get the name Generation Z?"

Answer:
"Well, after the Baby Boomers we had Generation X.  The next one they called Generation Y.  So they decided to continue on and call this one Generation Z."

Make sense to me...

But then, in an almost prophetic slip of the tongue the host states this:
"and it may be the last one"

You know, as in X, Y Z.  The end.

He caught himself before going down that rabbit hole with no time left in the segment, but I thought it was so interesting how he mentioned that.  And it makes perfect sense.  If we are really approaching the end, it would make sense this generation was marked by the LAST letter in the alphabet.

It's an interesting thought....  but that's not all.  The author is an expert on sharing the Gospel with Generation Z, (basically people 20 and younger).  And he had said earlier there are 2 main bridges that you can build with a Gen Z person to share the gospel.....

The first was their openness to the supernatural.
The second was this:
They are blown away by wonders of the Universe.
That's right.  The heavens.  The stars and planets.

He said that the size and grandeur of the Cosmos is the one thing that makes them sit back and think, "there must be something bigger than they are".  The width and breadth and majesty just takes them away and opens their minds to the possibility/likelihood of a Creator.

Just as Psalm 19 says:
The heavens declare the glory of God.

We of course know who made the heavens.  And that same God placed a Great Sign in the sky for all to see...and it just so happens that Generation Z is perfectly geared to soak it up.

So get out there and share the Good News while there is still time... the youngest generation may be more open to it than you ever thought.

If you want to listen to the audio yourself here are some links.  I think they should change the name though.  How about this... Reaching the Last Generation of Believers.  I started in at about the 33 minute mark.

  1. Sometimes there's confusion about the different definitions, I found another article here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/features/11002767/Gen-Z-Gen-Y-baby-boomers-a-guide-to-the-generations.html

I did myself think about this a while ago when I read the alphabet of generations. Even the world seems to be more aware of an "end" than many Christians are. ;-)

But in contrast to your conclusion from the "stars and wonders" attraction to Gen-Z I think them most likely to be attracted from the false teachers and New Age sorcerers that prepare their minds today to follow the AC after we are gone (2 Thess2,9-12).

Those who are still children or teens today I do rather compare to them being cursed by Elisha in 2 Kings 2,23-24. Their behaviour towards true Christians is exactly the same today from my own experience. They mock the true God and Jesus Christ and will soon end up in tribulation judgement.

    1. Thanks for your comment!

It was just striking to me how it came across on the radio. Gen Z, last generation, they are amazed by the Universe. It just fit so perfectly with all I have been studying. And I believe it is another timely and relevant opener to use when sharing the gospel, which should be our #1 primary goal. I have seen first hand the knowledge and accuracy of this sign cause people to re-evaluate their relationship with God...which is a great thing!

  2. I'm a Dad of 2 small children, beautiful gifts from God, and I am very zealous for the Lord. One of the biggest issues I see in talking with other parents and looking at society is that the Church and parents have let this generation Z down. I'm sure every Christian parent knows Proverbs 22:6, but do they act on it? When parents rely on an apostate church to train their children than what can they expect. If the parents themselves are not walking with Christ what kind of fruit can they expect to bare?
Hosea 4:6(NKJV) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

If parents, especially Dads, are not being priests in their own homes we can only expect our families to fall apart as well.

Psalm 11:3 If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

    Matthew 7:24-26
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Our society and culture have decided that gnosticism, mysticism, humanism and any other "ism", New Age, etc. is more appealing than the Truth of God Almighty.

    Proverbs 3:5-8
    Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
8 It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

  3. When the Church has no answers and parents have no answers, where does generatioin Z go? They go to the internet and Youtube for answers because those places will give them the "truth" they so desperately seek. New books, teachings and ideas are all great but if we do not take action as the Lord leads it will be a fruitless effort. My son is in kindergarten in public school and from Day 1 they begin to indoctrinate the children with their version of the "truth". I thank God that I do study the scriptures (2 Timothy 2:15) to have answers for my children rather than just let them believe whatever they are told. Like the old saying goes if you tell a lie enough times it becomes truth and we know the devil has been doing that for a long time. As an example, my son got very into weather and it was awlays funny to read the books he would bring home from the library and there is never a point of origin for a lot of the weather explanation so there would be a conspicuous gap to fill where science runs out of answers and begins to take educated guesses. In this case I read Job 37 to him side by side with his weather book and showed him that weather comes from God. Even the remaining few chapters of Job show how God created everything. My son was also big into tornadoes which comes from a Spanish tornada according to all books. Well we know in the Bible a tornado was called a "whirlwind" because it was written before the word tornado existed. Any answer big or small will do as long as we point to the Truth in God's word. That is what people hunger for. The real Truth. But when we dont have an answer for their questions they go seeking answers other places and can sadly end up lost.
    Romans 1:18-25
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

This is not the only problem we face today as Christians trying to help the lost. There are plenty of distractions and issues besides these, but we need to point people to the Truth no matter what age they are. If they ask a question or show interest in something like astronomy, we need to be prepared and be able to provide an answer and show them that it comes from God, that He is the Creator of all and that the only way to know Him is through His word and His Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, the Life, The King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and Name above all Names who is soon coming! And PRAY for them! God bless!

    1. Dear Frank, I fully agree with you here! Its a great job that you do and I want to encourage you in all this in your own family. If you are still able to raise your child according to scriptures, may the Lord richly bless you and your family! What I meant was spreading the word outside family which is not anymore possible at my place (in Germany we have a 2Kings2,23 situation after 500 years of Reformation). I have 1 single son which had no Christian contact at all in his youth and went to a public school, a 1,000 pupils and teachers most wicked. He's saved from childhood and was always perfectly protected by Jesus. It was hard though but it was 'school of God' for him (19 yrs now). I remember we were summoned by school to the local child protection service because he had spoken with some pupils about the rapture and the school thought he was thinking of suicide! That wasn't really funny but even then we could still spread the gospel to the CPS clerks (one was protestant, one Muslim!). So yes, we have experienced a lot with Gen Z... Together with the truth of John 3,12 people don't even understand signs of the times so how can you talk to them about heavenly things? So be steadfast, stay alert and firm in Jesus Christ and His word, continues teaching your child like you said, He will soon give His reward for you as well, bless all your family! MARANATHA

Colossians 3:2-4

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Philippians 3:20-21

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
