The Math of Imminence and Biblical Prophecy

Our Brother Michael has started a blog (Heavenly Perspectives.org) where he shares many interesting thoughts about the Rapture, Revelation 12 and the Doctrine of Imminence.

In his most recent post, Michael springs from Greg Lauer's now famous 'Exit Sign' article and dives into the doctrine of Imminence. In it he makes some interesting analogy's between Rapture date speculation and weather forecasting or sports. Please check out his post below and his others and leave Michael some encouragement feedback! Great job, Michael... looking forward to more from you in the near future!

Here is an excerpt:
To me, speculating about the timing of the Rapture is a little bit like forecasting the path and severity of a highly complex hurricane.  There are so many data points and possibilities to consider that it is impossible to know the exact answer. However it is clear that hurricane forecasters are becoming more accurate due to advances in data capture and analysis.  I think the same things applies when forecasting the probability of the Rapture occurring at a specific point in time in the future.

  1. Thank you Brad, I’ve read this article, it’s very logical. Maybe I something misunderstood here, I ask for forgiveness. But it still seems to me that our study of God’s prophecy (any prophecy, not only about Rapture) is completely inappropriate to compare with probability theory, statistics, meteorology and so on, even with math. I differentiate in the last months all my studies into (1) the facts that the Lord has accurately shown at very precise times with very precise signs, and (2) the facts that are still unclear to us whether there is already a sign (for example, about the red dragon) and so on, it's really assumptions. But the Lord surely shows all of this in the correct time. Finally, it's all only His work, and our business is to look at what He shows us, and study. Proverbs 2:1-5

    1. Thanks for reading my article Alla. I don't have a problem with anything you wrote. I have read many of your past comments and I found them insightful. I will say that the point of this article is two-fold. First I don't believe immenance is a barrier that prevents us from knowing approximately when the rapture will occur. As you stated God will reveal more and more as we get closer. We should have enough evidence to know when it is really, really close although we won't know the exact day or time. Second, math is a tool created by God. It's not demonic like divination. While it may not be the best source for studying God, I believe it is a tool we can use in certain circumstances.

      Michael

    2. Thank you, Michael, for your articles and your answer. This article is very good, logically constructed and the correct conclusions made. I didn't want to say that math is inapplicable here. My idea is simply that no science can be compared with the study of the Bible prophecy. These things are incommensurable in their essence. This process is based on the personal participation of God Himself in this study. This makes the process supernatural. So I think we will know the exact time on exact time. And you're right in everything here. We really don't know, but only assume. I will study now your articles. Be blessed abundantly. Maranatha!

  2. Good article and thanks for the new website hint, Brad! I had to chuckle a bit about the 'hurricane picture' from weather prediction used in the text; because if people who did in fact 'invent' weather warfare cannot predict their own plans today I really doubt their competence. Actually, I do EXPECT them to be able to predict the path and intensity of their own hurricanes they created themselves by "Owning the weather in 2025" (= title of the official 1996 USAF paper on weather modification) as part of their depopulation strategy. I think this imagery is not really fitting with biblical prophecy as man has so much manipulated everything God created that nothing is in fact to be called "normal" today. That doesn't mean that God isn't still in control but its not His (original) creation anymore man is dealing with today.

Anyway, as the events LEADING up to the rapture now have eventually been triggered by Rev12:1 on 9/23/2017 I don't think the term of imminency can still be explained with "to happen at ANY RANDOM time". Like JD Farag lately used the birthing process description again and said (analogously) 'if you think after all what happened in 2017 there will be a pause now when the doctor and the midwife go out for lunch and tell the pregnant woman they come again later that will probably not happen'... It might be that we will not know the exact day and time very much in advance but I still think we may know according to Amos 3:7 shortly beforehand and that it will be VERY SOON now after 9/23 finally occured once in a 7,000 years. Birth pangs have been eventually triggered and they won't relax nor stop now but definitely end with a breakthrough moment of BIRTH. Isaiah 66:9 MARANATHA!

    1. PS: I just read Michaels last article before this one on the issue of "Painful waiting - How should Christians respond?" (click!) another MUST-READ and truly brilliant, great biblical insight! Completely agree to this, very good observations about the loss of patience in our times compared to biblical ages...

    3. Hi All. I’m going to try again today...my phone has been refusing to publish my comments. I think “they” are trying to force me to upgrade;-)
      Anyway, Michael-
Nicely done! Your thoughts are well articulated. I am in the camp with Pastor JD. No going back now as the labor pains are only intensifying daily.
And it seems to me, that pretty much nothing is what it seems or is represented to be
anymore outside of the Word. The only place to look for truth is in our Savior.
I feel like He us carrying me through all of the signs, feasts, events, etc, to a gradual narrowing of my focus resting on Him if that makes sense...like a woman focusing on her breathing until it comes down to that final push, I am reminded of Is.66:9.
We are so close to that point. And regarding the numbers, today is one of those once in 100 yrs days. A golden ratio day.
1:6:18 phi=1.618 and Epiphany. Hope springs eternal:-)
      Blessings and Maranatha!!!

    9. This CNN headline came up on my phone:
“The CDC wants to “gently” prepare people for (an unlikely) nuclear war.” Big meeting to convene on Jan 16.
That is the nuttiest statement, but maybe I can use it to “jerk” some people awake enough to make sure they are getting their hearts and eyes on Jesus.
      Praying so much for that.
      Blessings Everyone and Maranatha!!!

  3. Imminence. Please, friends, let's spell it correctly. I'm no grammar nazi, but when a word that's central to the discussion is being spelled in several different ways, it is distracting. Thanks.

  5. I’ve just read 2 comments by 2 brothers in Christ under Brother Barry Scarbrough’s newest vid. Thought of sharing them because I found them interesting and encouraging.

“I had always thought that since the Lord had allowed Israel to dwell with the Gentile Babylonians in captivity for 70 years and be corrupted by them, that He has allowed Israel in our modern day, to dwell with the Gentile Church for 70 years to have the opportunity to redeem themselves individually through Christ Jesus before He judges the nation! Those 70 years are now up this year!”

“Barry, one thing that I keep being reminded of is Judah Ben Samuel. He has not been wrong yet. He wrote those prophecies 300 years before they began coming true. The Ottomans didn’t even exist at the time. The Gregorian calendar didn’t exist. We know now that we are still in the jubilee year. We’re down to a few weeks for his last prophecy to be fulfilled.”

(I’ve been reminded of Judah Ben Samuel prophecies several times too. His record of prophetic fulfillments is without fault so far, so concerning his prophecy of a new *Messianic era* beginning right after 2017 I’m looking forward with curiosity to especially the first half of 2018. Time will tell if Ben Samuel rabbi was indeed right about everything and the Lord really used him or not.)

  6. I recall in my surfing the ET wave online that one ministry leader was given a word for 2018 and that one word was "Suddenly". Tuck that into your hip pocket as these days unfold. With the announcement of other nations officially recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capitol and moving their embassies, and this seeming somewhat a spoiler of 'all nations' coming against Israel, this 'stirring the pot' seems in alignment with what Pastor JD said a year ago about this POTUS likely doing things to accelerate Biblical prophetic events to unfold.

Also, Watchman Word here, I recall also, from Perry Stone (?) related prophecies from the 60-70's (?), though not sure where, that one detail which had everyone very distressed in their vision of ET tumult was the Internet being down everywhere. As the vision was prior to the Internet being invented, it was described, as I recall, as best as possible, as some type of entertainment/information device/service which was, at this then future time, in everyone's homes and very central to everyone's lives. So, if THE moment is at hand, it seems very likely that at some point soon, IF we are still here, we will ALL lose THIS connection to each other. When that happens, stop, remember that we are ALL connected through The Spirit, accept it as another item on the list to check off and Look Up! Your Redemption is at the Door! Maranatha!

    1. I’ve been thinking about that here lately, Jimboni, and not being able to communicate with the online family and just the few days of being held back by family or phone issues was a bit exasperating for me because no one here really wants to discuss much of what’s really going on. So I’ve kind of had a running prayer about being “suddenly” cut off from the encouragement of the other Watchmen. The sense that I got, just like you said, was that we are already gathered on a sort of Spiritual Ark together, so if it all goes quiet or dark on us before we actually go, all we have to do is focus on Him to remain connected for He is the One who connected us all to begin with. If we keep praying for one another, calling out the names we’ve come to know each other by, then we will be a-okay:-)
      Blessings, Brother!

    2. Hey Jimboni and Sheila B -

Interesting thought about the loss of the internet, thus the loss of fellowship. That would be a bummer!

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I believe that the days leading up to the Rapture will be much like the days of Noah. Matthew 24:38 says, "For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." KJV

With all the evil in men's hearts today, the civil unrest, the geopolitical turmoil, etc., etc., isn't the world (for the most part) still going about business as usual? It seems as if there is a "new normal" almost everyday, if you know what I mean. Think of the frog in the water as the heat is being turned up. It all seems normal to the frog until the water begins to boil! Then, it's too late! So, for the world, isn't it business as usual now? Tomorrow morning, Lord willing, I'll get up and go to work. My wife will have another day of teaching 2nd graders reading, writing, arithmetic, Bible, and the love of Jesus just as she has done for years! Then back home for dinner, family time, chores, reading and other normal activities until bedtime again. Business as usual. All around us is a sick, diseased, warped and getting even "more worser" world. But, from the world's perspective, all is still 'normal'.

'Normalcy' for the world won't change drastically until the Rapture (IMHO). If a major event such as a nuclear world war, a world-wide contagion, a meteor collision, the eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera, the collapse of the world economy, or any other major catastrophic event happens, it will certainly immediately change "business as usual". No more "normal"! So, I don't think that collapse will happen before the Rapture. In fact, it will probably be the Rapture that triggers the collapse of the economy and give rogue countries the impetus for nuclear or EMP attacks.

Finally (ha!) here's my point. I don't think anything will happen to the internet (other than possibly more censorship), the collapse of the economy, collision with a large meteor, an EMP, etc., etc., until the Rapture. The Rapture will happen when all appears to be worldly "normal". A loss of the internet would cripple businesses, hospitals, schools, government services, etc., worldwide, which would collapse the U.S. and most nation's economies. It will happen like falling dominoes in hyper-speed! Clean up will take some time and then fixing everything will be the AC's problem. We'll be long gone (and by "long gone", I mean distance-wise, not time-wise!)

Enough rambling here. Can we lose the internet and yet maintain "business as usual" status? What's your thoughts?

      Blessings!

    3. Thank you Dennis for your thoughs, I agree, it will last until we leave! And the Lord gathered us here to exchange thoughts in the very last days! Does he suddenly take it away from us? I think also Internet will not end immediately after! This is a powerful tool of satan to deceive the whole world! Is that not so? In the minds of people has already infiltrated extreme need of it! For example, Hab 1:15-16, it isn't directly about, but the situation is here still exactly this! I think that our departure will trigger the attack on Israel, because the Lord after our departure will deal with Israel. Blessings!

    4. Dennis dear brother, I'm all in with you, well stated! Matthew 24:39 says "and they knew NOT" so in fact everything in daily life just goes on like normal until we eventually leave. Nevertheless, I do almost daily pray that the grid doesn't go down so that we still can communicate and watch the signs worldwide. (I mean, this can still happen locally or nationwide if some magneto-electric disturbances caused by these "red dragon" planetary objects do interfere from space.) I recently experienced several days of our WLAN router breakdown it was just terrible... :) But I dont think there will be a global breakdown yet. I often think of how Elijah and Elisha were separated by the rapture just while walking and talking, in the middle of a sentence 2 Kings 2:11 I can imagine the same scene happening to us then. I think God knows how important internet connection is for His flock during these very last days of endtimes season and He will provide! Blessings to you MARANATHA!

    5. Thank you all, so much. Of course, and it is so good to be reminded. Its just that with even the simplest of verses taken apart 12 ways to Sunday, and always mindful to let our Abba be in charge and take it as it comes, my spirit was mulling over our fellowship and its blessing to us all and wanted to wrap it in a little blanket of preparedness and take away the element of surprise should that be the choreography. Hasn't He Surprised us ALL so far? :) one way or t'other? That's why the big 'IF'. If My Lord Chastises me and Comments 'Oh, Ye of little faith,' I'll be in good company and only out of concern for His Sheep. Love to All, HNY! Maranatha!

    6. I am certainly hoping we go up before too much comes down but I guess after listening to our haircut lady who is from Puerto Rico and hearing how difficult even basic communications have been for most of her family for so long, I realized it could possibly happen anywhere at anytime. That, along with the drills they’ve recently done to respond to communication failures, I deemed it prayer worthy, but I do trust Jesus to keep the flock looking up together in any case;-)

    7. I am reminded of how the whole world is able to observe the two witnesses in Revelation. This I believe is tell tailing to some sort of communication system being available right up to that point of tribulation. Whether it is the internet still, or a broadcast network for televisions who can say. Further more, communication must be quick still as the AC is controlling the world, and if he is to dupe everyone and implement his system than a functioning internet or communication machine of some sort needs to be in play. Just my thoughts.

  8. Thank you Alla for posting link.what a blessing to hear J. Prinsloo share prophecy and current times that we are living in now. I was blessed to read all of your comments I feel your sense of urgency and your desire to occupy until he comes. How blessed we are to be living in this time to see the prophecy unfold day by day. I am in awe even more so now after the Revelation 12 sign. Now watching the events that are occurring in the world, and that we see here in the United States, oh my how God is working and how he is lifting up our heads so that we can see that our Redemption is drawing nigh. And in my life and the lives of many others around me, one attack after anothe....yet the battle is the Lord's and the battle is already been won. A moment is coming in history, where we will be one hour away from her rapture with Jesus our savior. Maranatha

    2. TY Alla. You are always so encouraging and providing good info.
Yes, we do all know we’re going home. I’m reminded of the way nervous dads used to pace the halls of OB wards waiting for the news of a baby’s arrival, not knowing if it would be a boy or a girl, or if it was even actually time yet (Of course that once exciting mystery is pretty much a thing of the past now, but I’m old enough to remember those days:-)
With the way people have instant access to answer most any question these days,
I kind of like the way the LORD has kept the mystery in His Word alive and kept us searching after Him. I am anxious to go home and I know we are so very close but I like Annabel’s reminder of Elijah and Elisha as well.
Like Enoch, one blink of an eye walking with the LORD and the next, flying with Him!

Colossians 3:2-4

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Philippians 3:20-21

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
